NEC
The NEC region supports deacons and others who are also committed in the social – diaconal field. Its geographic focus is on the English-speaking countries (England, Scotland, Ireland) and also the Netherlands, Belgium (Flanders), Scandinavia, the Baltic States and Ukraine. There is some interest on the part of deacons in the USA and Canada in participating – although in the USA networks exist already.
In all the above-mentioned countries, the diaconate exists as a ministry of the Church. Deacons need resources which would make their ministry easier and help deepen the process of theological reflection. Many of them work under exceptional circumstances, without possibilities of integration in a collegial milieu. Therefore, possibilities of exchange and dialogue are even more important.
