Three continents are represented in the IDC Board. In 2013, Klaus Kießling was reconfirmed as president for another four years. Alongside him are Gilbert de Lima, Mumbai and Greg Garnie, Johannesburg. Montserrat Martinez represents the deacons’ wives.
Deacon Gerald DuPont, Permanent Representative of the Deacons in the U.S. Bishops’ Conference and former chair of NADD welcomed the IDC Board as well as guests from all over the world in Houston, Texas. The Board and guests made preparations for the IDC Jubilee and reflected on some joint research projects.

The IDC Board, newly elected in Velehrad, came together for its first conference in Rome. With the help of some Delegates, preparations for the Jubilee were made. An important part of the conference was the visit to the Congregation for the Clergy. Its new Prefect, Cardinal Stella greeted the Board with great joy.

The Pro Diakonia in the German-Speaking Area Project* Initiated
The IDC Board met in Johannesburg between February 25th and March 1st. Our host deacon, Greg Garnie prepared everything wonderfully and, as a result, all the conference took place in a good atmosphere. The main topic on the agenda was the discussion and preparation of the Pro Diakonia worldwide project which will be preceded by a similarly named project in the German speaking area.
