The diaconate in Paraguay
Beginnings
Everything began in 1990 with the first consecrated in the diocese of Villarrica and Caazapa. Then in 1993 the first 29 consecrated in the Archdiocese of the Most Holy Assumption. At present, we are 280 Permanent Deacons. 10 deceased.

Challenges
To make know the specific task of the Diaconate, its functions and its role in the Church.
Opportunities
Deacons have a great acceptance by the parishioners in general. Priests trust our work. There are deacons with the functions of Quasi-Parish Administrators and even Administrators in the Archdiocese of Asuncion. Full support from the Bishops.
Objectives
To have deacons with a university education. Specialized in different pastorals. We’d like to have the opportunity to be present in every diocese of the country. Opportunity to enjoy a suitable retirement, created with self-sustaining by the deacons themselves, always with the consent of our shepherds.
