The International Diaconate Centre (IDC) is organised as a non-Profit association recognised by the Church. General Assemblies, Delegates´Assemblies as well as Board Meetings guarantee active participation, international networking and a lively exchange of ideas, opinions and experience.

Value and Benefits for IDC members

By means of your membership you support the work of the IDC to promote the Diaconate and a diaconal Church, bringing together Deacons from around the world, sharing their experiences, joys and challenges.
We promote worldwide active solidarity, contribute to forming project partnerships, organize study conferences and promote research initiatives and publications in order to help shaping the profile of the Diaconate.

What we offer to IDC Members:

• Wives network meetings: Exchanges between women married to deacons on the lived reality of the Diaconate regarding marriage and family life, to enhance the understanding of the two Sacraments of Vocation: Marriage and Holy Orders (Diaconate)
• Support for diaconal projects, either through funding from the Diaconia Christi Internationalis Foundation or through the Pro Diaconia Prize, which is awarded every four years to outstanding diaconal projects by the bishop of Rottenburg-Stuttgart.
• Voting right in the elections for the IDC Board and Delegates Assembly
• Connections to ecumenical diaconal networks, e.g. Diaconia World Federation, recognizing and valuing diversity and what we share in common.

Dues:

Membership is open to anyone who wishes to support the work of the IDC through their membership, regardless of whether they are deacons themselves. Individual membership may also apply to a married couple, for example a deacon and his wife. However, in this case, the couple has only one joint vote in votes taken at the General Assembly.

Corporations and dioceses may arrange membership on separate terms. In the case of dioceses, this means that for the duration of the diocesan membership, all deacons of the diocese are automatically members of the IDC. If you are interested, please contact our office.

Our membership fees are divided into four tiers, and the respective tier is agreed individually for each country with regional contacts, taking into account the country’s economic strength and exchange rates.
