The International Diaconate Centre (IDC) is organised as a non-Profit association recognised by the Church. General Assemblies, Delegates´Assemblies as well as Board Meetings guarantee active participation, international networking and a lively exchange of ideas, opinions and experience.
Value and Benefits for IDC members
By means of your membership you support the work of the IDC to promote the Diaconate and a diaconal Church, bringing together Deacons from around the world, sharing their experiences, joys and challenges.
We promote worldwide active solidarity, contribute to forming project partnerships, organize study conferences and promote research initiatives and publications in order to help shaping the profile of the Diaconate.
What we offer to IDC Members:
• Access to the IDC network of deacons from over 50 countries, including regional network meetings to build international relationships.
• Access to Diaconia Christi online Magazine (to be published soon)
• Access to Diaconia Christi archive with all digital editions of the Magazine since 1965, including many historical theological articles about the Diaconate
• Invitation to our International Study Conferences
• Free participation in regular exclusive webinars and access to recordings
• Access to additional video content (relevant talks and interviews about the Diaconate)
• Wives network meetings: Exchanges between women married to deacons on the lived reality of the Diaconate regarding marriage and family life, to enhance the understanding of the two Sacraments of Vocation: Marriage and Holy Orders (Diaconate)
• Support for diaconal projects, either through funding from the Diaconia Christi Internationalis Foundation or through the Pro Diaconia Prize, which is awarded every four years to outstanding diaconal projects by the bishop of Rottenburg-Stuttgart.
• Voting right in the elections for the IDC Board and Delegates Assembly
• Connections to ecumenical diaconal networks, e.g. Diaconia World Federation, recognizing and valuing diversity and what we share in common.
• Being part of a body recognized by the Holy See as being a voice for the Worldwide Diaconate and advising the Dicastery for the Clergy on issues of the Permanent Diaconate.
Membership fees are tailored to the conditions of the countries and continent.
